Blush Pink Goodnights

Things we love: Moody, dark spaces. Also, pastels. Axel Vervoodt’s serious, minimal, organic spaces. And not taking things too seriously. Masculine details… and a feminine touch. Turns out, the thing we like more than anything is juxtaposition.

Looking at the final result of our master bedroom, it’s a game of chicken and egg to figure out what came first-- the idea for deep hued grey darkness, or a near-obsession with finding an irreverently, unapologetically pink set of sheets. I’ve been dreaming of pink clouds since my aunt once put me to bed and wished me “a pink goodnight,” and while I don’t know what it means now, and certainly didn’t then, I can tell you-- it conjures a vibe.

The internet is full of bubblegums and blushes, millennial pink and a whole spectrum of not-quite-corals, but the exact shade that I was hunting for turned out to exclusively belong to Coyuchi, a W&W favorite brand which has kindly outfitted more than one of our destinations-- and spoiled us rotten with fine linens.

Pulling off a pink anything requires a certain confidence, or (as we prefer) some serious contrasts. The dark, matte grey of the walls in our master (WHAT COLOR, from Portola Paint), the imperfect aging on the antique wood furniture we found for the space, and the golden, almost medieval light that radiates out of some serious brass pendants, all of these touches balance a stereotypically feminine tone, that paired correctly, reads really very sophisticated.

From childhood dreams to very adult bedrooms, we wish you a pink goodnight in Yucca.
